Heather Powers joined the firm in March 2025. Heather’s professional legal career began at the General Counsel’s Office of a Michigan tri-county Mobility Authority, handling and responding to Freedom of Information Act Requests and appeals, government bids and contracting issues, employment issues, Mini Tort Claims, Federal Transportation Regulation Compliance, FCC Sales and Compliance, issues surrounding property and transit rights, and handling third-party auto-negligence and first-party No-Fault claims relating to public transport. Additionally, she worked at a plaintiff’s personal injury firm, primarily handling third-party auto-negligence, first-party No-Fault claims, and premises liability claims.

 

For the last five years, Heather has been defending insurers, self-insured entities, transportation entities, ride share companies, and individuals, including claims and cases involving first-party PIP, first party Uninsured- and Underinsured-Motorist benefits, third-party auto negligence, premises liability, general negligence, and dog-bite claims. Further, Heather has worked defending Workers’ Compensation insurers within the State of Michigan.

Heather received her J.D., from Wayne State Law School in 2020, after being awarded the Governor’s Scholar Award for academic achievement. There she participated in the Disability Law Clinic and Transactional Law Competition. In 2017, Heather earned her Dual Bachelor’s of Art, with high distinction, from the University of Michigan in English Literature and Language, as well as Political Science, where she received the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters Alumni Affiliate Scholar Award and Helen Mataya Graves Political Science Internship Scholar Award.

Heather brings a wide variety of experience, and is a zealous advocate for her clients. In her free time, Heather enjoys gardening, scuba diving, aerial photography, and traveling.
